CCTV / ACCESS-REQUEST
When access to CCTV is refused
Identify who appears in the recording, the relevant time window and the footage sought. Keep any refusal and the reasons given so the next step can be assessed.
Define the footage sought
Record the location, date, time window and how you can be identified. Specify the relevant section and purpose rather than requesting all footage indiscriminately.
Distinguish viewing from a copy
A request to access your own personal footage differs from a request for another person's information. Identity checks, other people's rights and masking may need to be considered.
Respond to the reason for refusal
After reviewing who refused and why, we prepare a document explaining the facts and request. Sending a document does not itself compel disclosure.
